Eskom crisis in South Africa

What do you guys think of the Eskom power crises in South Africa:

From living in South Africa it is a big problem as many of the business infrastructures do not support power failures and this creates costly investments for all.

Many business have to invest in UPS (Uninterrupted power supply) or generators to be able to carry their hardware power consumption in the office. This brings another big expense to the table as fuel prices shoot through the roof, thus making the generator costs to much more...

Hope this will not deter foreign investors for future growth in the country?

If you take the power outages, interest rate hikes, inflation, and price of petrol into consideration I agree that South African businesses will have a tough time staying afloat, especially your start-up companies.

But it's like the old saying goes, what goes up, must come down. It can't last forever.

I read in an ITWeb article, a comment from two analysts @ IDC who basically said that despite todays challenges, the future is not all bleak.

Eskom might suck, but South Africa still rock!
